This book is titled FRIZZANTE the Italian word for “sparkling” when referring to that of sparkling water. Throughout the trip this word became synonymous with the English equivalent of “hurray”—used in anytime of pure happiness or excitement.

FRIZZANTE is a collection of 148 Fujifilm Instax Mini film images. The original images were shot on a Lecia Sofort and instantly printed on film at 46mm x 62mm. All images were shot by Stirling Barrett between the dates of May 27th 2018 to June 6th 2018. On these dates Stirling Barrett and Joel Kern traveled from New Orleans, Louisiana to Milan, Italy, which included multiple visits to the Mazzucchelli Factory—an acetate production factory in the Northern foothills of Italy—then to Venice, Italy and lastly to Marrakesh, Morocco before returning back home to New Orleans. These images represent the new definition of “frizzante”—pure happiness or excitement.

The original images have been scanned at 2400 dpi and resized at 3.5x larger to fit the full bleed design of this book. No images have been digitally manipulated other than image enlargement. Additionally, all photographs taken have all been included. No omissions were made.  Because each photograph was printed on site and completed the trip together they each play a part in telling the story.

All photographs were shot by Stirling Barrett and are sole property of Krewe Du Optic, LLC.
